Effetto Mariposa Shelter Off-Road KIT



Shelter Off-Road is a transparent shock and scratch resistant adhesive tape. It provides a reliable protection to the carbon-fiber or metal structures it’s applied to. “Off-Road” is perfect for heavier duty off-road riding.

Charateristics:



How it works: Shelter Off-Road has a 0,2 mm scratch-resistant upper layer with a gummy (viscoelastic) 1 mm layer underneath. This unique, composite construction allows Shelter to spread impact energy within its structure, without transmitting it or reducing it very efficiently.

Shelter Off-Road is the thickest Shelter, and it’s perfect for heavier duty off-road riding. Shelter Road(0,6 mm thick) is best for lighter off-road riding or gravel/cyclocross applications. Shelter ZeroDue (0,2 mm thick) is great for protection of road bikes or surfaces mostly subject to wear and friction, like crank arms.



Lightweight protection: With a weight of 0,130 g per square centimeter, Shelter Off-Road generates the following results:




  • Shelter Kit Off-Road: approx. 39 g (total weight of all the elements of the Kit)


  • Shelter Roll Off-Road (58 mm x 5 m, 1,2 mm thick): approx. 350 g.




Available sizes/formats




  • Shelter Kit Off-Road: a sheet with pre-cut elements specific for off-road purposes, to easily protect sensitive frame areas (chainstays, down tube, cable/frame contact points, horizontal tube against brake levers contact).


  • Shelter Roll Off-Road: recommended for enthusiasts, shops or teams. Sizes(*): 58 mm x 1 m; 80 mm x 1 m; 58 mm x 5 m; 80 mm x 5 m, 1,2 mm thick.

Easy to apply: Adhesion of Shelter is defined “semi-structural”, so very strong but not permanent. After being applied, it takes Shelter 8 hours before developing its optimal bonding. After that, normal bicycle use or washing won’t affect it, but it can be removed – if needed – without damaging the underlying paint.



Application of Shelter doesn’t require special tools or procedures, just normal skills and patience:




  1. after removing cables or other interfering elements, clean the area where you want to apply Shelter with alcohol and a clean cloth. Remove traces of dried-up alcohol with another clean, dry cloth;


  1. take the suitable pre-cut Shelter element or cut a custom made Shelter piece, without removing the backing paper;


  1. make sure the element fits the area you want to protect and make sure your hands are clean. After that, completely remove the backing paper, freeing the adhesive surface (try not to touch the adhesive surface with your fingers, or do it as little as possible: being transparent, fingerprints might show);


  1. gently position Shelter on the area to protect, without applying pressure and without stretching the material. Re-position it if necessary, until it sits exactly where you want it. As this point, start applying an even pressure, working from the center and going towards the sides, to avoid trapping air bubbles and making wrinkles;


  1. work on the whole Shelter element to make it stick to the surface. Insist on the edges and on tight curved sections to make sure the adhesion is even.




You can use your bicycle immediately after applying Shelter, remembering that the full adhesion is achieved after 8 hours.



To remove Shelter, peel it off slowly, making sure not to delaminate it. Doing so, Shelter won’t leave any trace of glue on the surface it was formerly attached to, even after several years.



UV-resistant



Shelter is transparent but won’t turn yellowish over time, thanks to its UV-protection. It will even protect the underlaying frame paint from UV degradation.

IMPORTANT: after the removal of Shelter, there may be differences in color between protected areas and not, in case of fluorescent paints or bright colors.



Visco-elasticity reduces vibrations: The transmission of vibrational energy through any structure can be reduced by introducing visco-elastic materials at discrete points. It’s exactly what Shelter does, providing stiff carbon frames with protection but also contributing to reduce vibrations. An example of that is the Shelter Wheel Kit.



Beware of copies!



There are watermark “Shelter Effetto Mariposa” logos inside Shelter structure, impossible to remove. Both “Effetto Mariposa” and “Shelter” are registered trademarks.

HOW DO I MAKE AN ORDER?

  • Just click on the product or collection of your choice, click the 'ADD TO CART' button to add it to your cart and this will show up in the right hand corner of the website.
  • Agree to the Terms of Service.
  • You can leave special instructions or change the quantity you need.
  • Next click 'CHECKOUT' to be taken to the personal information and payment page.
  • Enter your email & delivery address.
  • Choose a Shipping option and enter any discount codes or gift cards you may have.
  • Finally Choose a Payment Option from Credit Card, Paypal, Zip or Afterpay and then push "Complete Order." You will be notified via email with an attached pdf receipt.

HOW LONG DOES AN ORDER TAKE TO ARRIVE?

We have a large range of products on our online store and not all these items are held in stock. Some items will be drop shipped from the New Zealand importer. If the importer is out of stock of your ordered item, we will notify you. If any items in your order are out of stock you will have the option to backorder until the item arrives, have part delivery of your order or cancel the entire order. Note: you will only be charged for items sent to you.

Items are generally shipped within 3 days of placing your order. We deliver to all addresses within New Zealand and delivery usually takes around 1 week. Delivery costs are calculated when you confirm your order. We offer freight free ordering on all packages over $99+. If your order is under $99 we charge a flat rate of $9 for North Island. $12 for South Island, Waiheke Island and Rural delivery and $25 for Bike Frames/ Bikes or extra large/ heavy orders. We review these charges from time to time and the checkout system will reflect the current freight charge.

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at shop@veloworkshop.co.nz. Please note that returns will need to be sent to the following address: 11 Kent Street, WKO, Hamilton 3204, New Zealand.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items) or gift cards. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too. If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at shop@veloworkshop.co.nz.
